Abstract
A survival table or life table provides a detailed description of the mortality conditions of a given population. It consists of the values of various functions for individuals of specific ages or age groups. In the latter case, the life table is referred to as abridged or incomplete. In either case, the survival table provides the most disaggregated and accurate way to compare the mortality of different populations. The measures presented are not affected by age distribution.
