The City of Rio de Janeiro in the PNAD: Living Conditions, Education, Income, and Employment between 2001 and 2006

Abstract

This book results from a collaboration between the Pereira Passos Institute (IPP) of the City of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and the University Institute of Research of Rio de Janeiro (IUPERJ) of Cândido Mendes University, aimed at producing statistics about the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro using the regular IBGE surveys. This collaboration has allowed the Municipality to systematically inform itself about broader socioeconomic dynamics and evaluate it in perspective, considering what has been happening in the State of Rio de Janeiro and in the country as a whole. This publication brings together studies conducted by a team of researchers selected and coordinated by IUPERJ, based on data from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) for the years 2001 to 2006.
