Abstract
The production of population estimates for submunicipal units (areas or planning regions, administrative regions, neighborhoods, localities, or other municipal subdivisions) requires the incorporation of territorial variables and the broadening of the scope of analysis beyond the examination of demographic factors (fertility, mortality, and migration) of the reference municipality and its internal distribution according to historical trends.
