Abstract
The Pereira Passos Institute has, in a pioneering way among municipalities in Brazil, sought to maximize the use of data from the 2000 IBGE Census. The goal is not only to provide citizens and researchers with elements to deepen the understanding of the city's reality but also, and most importantly, to support the management actions of various departments in the City Hall with the necessary data to enhance the efficiency of their initiatives.
