Health in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region in May 2003

Abstract

In 2003, in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region (RMRJ), 84.3% of people rated their health status as very good or good, a rate higher than the national average, which was 78.6%. Notably, only a small proportion of 2.4% of respondents rated their overall health as poor or very poor. Between 1998 and 2003, self-assessment in the very good and good categories showed a slight increase of 1.6% (graph 1).
