The objective of Coleção Estudos Cariocas - Carioca Studies Collection is to disseminate technical and scientific production on topics related to the city of Rio de Janeiro, including its metropolitan links and its placement in regional, national, and international contexts.
Its target audience consists of researchers from a variety of fields (whether or not they are municipal employees) whose research focuses on Rio de Janeiro. In this sense, the journal has a broad target audience, comprising investigators working on different themes, but whose activities take place wholly or partially within the territory of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The journal is multidisciplinary, and encompasses diverse areas such as Social Assistance, Territorial Cadastre, Cartography and Geoprocessing, Religious Studies, Culture, Demography, Development, Real Estate Dynamics, Right to the City, Human Rights, Economics, Education, Sports and Leisure, Public Management, Housing, History, Infrastructure, Environment, Heritage, Sanitation, Health, Public Security, Remote Sensing, Sociology, Transportation, Tourism, Territory, Land Use, Urbanism, and others — provided they address, partially or entirely, the spatial scope of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Articles must also align with the Pereira Passos Institute's objectives, namely:
I - to promote and coordinate public intervention in the urban space of the Municipality;
II - to provide and integrate the activities of the system of geographic, cartographic, monographic information, and statistical data of the City;
III - to support the establishment of basic guidelines for the socioeconomic development of the Municipality.
Special emphasis will be given to the articulation of the articles with the city's economic development proposal. Thus, it is expected that the multidisciplinary articles submitted to the journal will address the urban development needs of Rio de Janeiro.
