Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
-
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
-
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or PDF document file format.
-
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
-
The text has between 4000 to 10000 words, and a bibliography. There is consistency in the numbering of topics and bibliographic citations. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
-
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the guidelines below.
Author Guidelines
For the initial submission, articles (in Portuguese, English, or Spanish) must include an abstract of up to 100 words, a main text of 4000 to 10000 words, and a bibliography. Articles may be uploaded in the journal's format, but submissions will be accepted in any format, as long as there is consistency in the numbering of topics and bibliographic citations (using the “your paper, your way” system). In special cases, and upon prior consultation with the Editorial Board, shorter or longer articles may be considered for review.
All submitted articles undergo an initial evaluation by the editorial team and are screened for plagiarism using AI-powered tools such as Plagium. After the initial approval by the editorial team, the article will be anonymously and independently evaluated by two (or more) specialists, who will issue a recommendation for its publication, revision, or rejection. In case of divergence between reviews, additional reviewers will be called until a clear majority in favor of a given recommendation is reached. The journal provides an open space for authors to submit complaints, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Privacy and Ethics Statement.
If the reviewers issue a favorable opinion (with or without revisions), the author(s) will be responsible for formatting the final version according to the standard provided by the Editorial Board. Article templates may be obtained in both .docx or LaTeX formats:
The files above provide all the necessary formatting details for the final submission. Bibliographic citations must be in ABNT format (NBR 10520/2023), the main examples of which can also be found in the provided templates.
Following the submission of the final article file, the text editing process will begin, including translations, a final review by the Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editor, and the final composition for publication in the system with the assignment of a DOI.
The double-blind peer review process takes up to one month, with the full editorial flow — from submission to publication — lasting a maximum of two months and two weeks (in cases of positive recommendations without revisions), thus ensuring a swift and responsible editorial process. The updated metrics can be viewed on this page.
